Support Center - Irving
The Manager Store Project and Macro Space Planning will research, develop, and ensure the execution of a dynamic retail design strategy that incorporates and reacts to changes in Consumer behavior, competitor, and industry trends. The position will lead efforts in enhancing and implementing process and output improvements to drive the execution of Michael's best practices in fixture layout design, merchandise placement, and allocation of space in store development projects.
The Manager Store Project and Macro Space Planning will build and enhance macro-space methodology and leverage tools and data to influence department/category level space allocation to maximize retail space productivity. Professional development and leadership of the floor planning team and effective cross-functional influence are paramount to driving improvements to the retail store model and new store/store renovation performance.
Major Activities
- Cross-Functional Leadership - Represent Macro Space Planning and design throughout the enterprise, specifically influencing Merchandising, Category Management, and Retail Development to drive increased productivity and performance at retail.
- Macro Space Analysis - Partner with Analytics in the creation and refinement of reports and tools to determine optimal space allocation through retail performance analysis and integrate into the new store and store renovation merchandise planning process.
- Improving the Store Model - Drive the strategic development of forward-looking store models, formats, layouts, and concepts that build on the categories and differentiators that Ace is famous for. Pilot and prove out concepts for performance and execution.
- Project Management - Manage the development and maintenance of project management/tracking schedules pertaining to Store Projects/initiatives. Set expectations on timelines and deliverables with the Sr. Floor Planners and hold teams accountable for results
- Manage associate development through training, feedback, and the implementation of development plans.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Associate's degree
- 3-5 years of retail experience
- Strong project management & communication skills
- Strong interpersonal & leadership skills
- Effective management in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills: must be able to communicate ideas effectively & concisely with all levels of management
- Project management, organizational, analytical, & problem-solving skills & detail-oriented
- Process-oriented, proven business partner, effective at cross-functional collaboration & achieving results through others
- Highly motivated individual & self-starter
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in business preferred
- Strong skills in MS Excel and MS Access preferred
- 3-5 years of Michaels experience preferred
- Space Planning experience preferred
- Previous experience in AutoCAD or JDA tools a plus
