- Directs and manages all employees and activities pertinent to crude supply by truck, heavy oils, intermediate oils and liquid petroleum gas products supply by rail and truck, distribution of heavy oils, intermediate oils and liquid petroleum gas products supply by rail and truck to achieve maximum productivity and effectiveness.
- Directs and oversees department to improve on-time shipment as needed to meet plant requirements, supplier requirements and customer expectations.
- Directs a team that works with other departments to maintain proper inventories of companywide products, ensures all inventory levels are achieved and communicates all differences.
- Reviews daily product movements and inventory positions with appropriate team members to ensure shipment and deliveries per the production and sales plans.
- Maintains positive and productive working relationship within department and with other departments, acting as primary liaison between refineries, logistics, crude supply, customer service, as well as the information technology department.
- Maximizes effective use of all information technology programs and applications.
- Coordinates with the Commercial Logistics team to locate and negotiate trans-loading locations.
- Communicates effectively with various trucking vendors, plant personnel, and technical/marketing representatives as needed to ensure smooth operations
- Acts as liaison with internal customers to determine their upcoming asphalt needs and effectively communicate their needs to Supply/Marketing/Operations groups on a daily basis
- Coordinate special/temporary truck and rail campaigns as needed to support refinery operations or commercial agreements.
- Oversees creating and maintaining of daily supply loading schedules for AZ, NM, OK retail asphalt plants
- Documents and follow-ups on all transportation-related problems or issues
- Sets schedules for employee rotating 24/7 “on-call” duty
- Ensures network inventory targets are maintained to meet business objectives, and provide input and decision making to refinery counterparts to maximize financial performance of the business unit.
- Oversee billing of railcars via HF Sinclair provided rail software and/or railroad websites.
- Track and trace railcars using HF Sinclair provided software and/or railroad websites.
- Manage diversion of railcars to maintain needed fleet sizes at each HF Sinclair location while minimizing diversion costs.
- Coordinates with HF Sinclair commercial team, internal and external terminals for short notice special product movement campaigns.
- Move railcars to/from storage as needed to accommodate production and sales plans.
- Monitors truck and rail invoices to ensure invoices are matched against expected charges and vendors are paid per contract terms.

- Assists with carrier negotiations, strategic planning, and procedure development
- Manages both inbound and outbound freight costs and develops and implements freight cost reduction initiatives
- Coordinates with transportation vendors for daily load scheduling and equipment availability
- Review and potentially dispute demurrage and accessorial charges from trucking vendors
- Promotes positive and productive working relationships within the Logistics department and with other departments
