Job Summary:
UT Health San Antonio is broadening its reach in clinical care with the opening of the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital. This eight-story 144-bed facility will offer uninterrupted patient care in one location within San Antonio, TX, the 7th largest city in the U.S.
The Manager, Operating Room organizes, directs, and supervises all sterile stores functions including staffing, budget preparation, and logistics of supplies used in surgery. Manages and oversees initiatives related to operational improvements within the Operating Room (OR), sterile stores, sterile processing department (SPD), and other perioperative initiatives as directed. Oversees OR equipment inventory, surgical equipment inventory, perioperative information services, perioperative operations special projects and charge posting operations. Ensures that all areas of responsibility meet or exceed current standards of practice and policies set by regulatory agency requirements. Establishes and updates standard operating procedures based on best practices.
Job Duties:
- Maintains daily operations on the units. Rounds and resolves any patient/family needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Defines schedules for staff coverage and adjusts exam room assignments, staff assignments, and responsibilities as appropriate.
- Prepares annual operating and capital equipment budget. Monitors expenditures and variances.
- Oversees all OR equipment training, maintenance, repair, and communicates needs and updates to administrative leadership.
- Ensures accountability for nursing standards, evidence-based practice, & regulations. Responsible for regulatory readiness of the department at all times.
- Identifies, supports & implements cross training of staff in collaboration with directors & the education department.
- Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
- Evaluates the patient care delivery processes on a regular, systematic, and frequent basis, reporting findings to appropriate leaders.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
Master's degree in preferred.
Five (5) years of OR experience required
Two (2) years of supervisory experience required
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure Required
CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse- Must obtain certification within one (1) year of hire
