Job description

Hi, we're Gravie, and we are building the Health Plan of the future. For the past few decades, the health insurance industry has evolved to serve the needs of employers, insurance companies, brokers, and (sometimes) doctors and hospitals. The needs of the consumer, however, have largely been left out of the equation. We're changing that. We are rebuilding the entire health insurance stack, with the consumer as the central focus. Our goal is to create a Health Plan that people can love.

A Little More About Us:

We know healthcare. Our company was founded and is still led by industry veterans who have started and grown several market-leading companies in the space.
We are quickly becoming one of the fastest growing health benefits companies in the country. We have received numerous awards and accolades, including Inc. Magazine Best in Business Gold Medal award in 2021, and JMP Securities Top 50 Private Companies in Insurtech in 2022.
We have raised money from top tier investors who share the same long-term vision as we do of building an industry defining company that will endure over the long run. We are well capitalized.
Our customers like us. Our revenue churn is in the low single digits, in an industry where greater than 20% churn is common.
Our culture is unique. We tend to be non-hierarchical, merit-driven, opinionated but kind people who thrive working in a high-performance, fast-paced environment. People at Gravie care deeply about making a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. We may not be the right place for everybody, but if you get energized by doing work every day that focuses on putting consumers at the front of the line, we could be a great place for you. It takes unique people and diverse perspectives to deliver our results. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.

A Little More About The Job:
We're looking for a Manager to oversee Health Plan Design. This newly created position will play a critical role in Gravie's efforts to reinvent health insurance and build a Health Plan that everyone can love.  You will help shape the future of Gravie's industry-leading Health Plan, focusing on one of the key elements of what makes Gravie's business model successful: our Plan Designs.

You will:
Manage the performance of Gravie's current set of Health benefits designs and ensure those Plan Designs are successfully operatedationalized and communicated throughout the company and to external audiences.
Evaluate and develop new Plan Designs and plan features in both current and new lines of business.
Manage and drive a roadmap and create business cases to secure resources required for the evolution of Gravie's Plan Designs, in partnership with Product Management.
Partner with the analytics team to take an intensively analytical approach, assessing plan performance, financial results, actuarial and underwriting analyses, and leveraging external data to identify opportunities - and then pursue those opportunities to enhance Plan Designs.
Manage and maintain a plan catalogue and detailed documentation of Gravie's benefits offerings.
Build a detailed source of truth for Gravie's Health Plan Designs including benefit payment amounts associated with detailed member care encounter and claims scenarios, with mappings to procedure codes, revenue codes, places of service, and other logic needed to configure Plan Designs in Gravie's claims system.
Partner with operations to ensure Plan Designs are configured and administered in accordance with the benefit intent and source of truth.  Run a cross-functional committee responsible for making decisions on how benefits should apply to escalated or unclear claims scenarios.
Work closely with marketing, sales, account management, and product teams to ensure proper representation of benefits in customer-facing documents and member communications.
Be an expert on the competitive landscape of Health benefits institutional players as well as new entrants and use this expertise to inform Gravie's strategy for benefits design. You'll also assess feedback from the market on Gravie's Plan Designs to inform Gravie's Plan Design strategy, taking into account member, employer, broker, and provider constituents. You'll engage directly with these stakeholders and work closely with market facing teams to understand these stakeholders' problems and needs.
Design benefits plans, incentives, features, and programs to address identified market and product opportunities.
Work with actuarial, analytics, and underwriting teams to develop and implement pricing.  You'll propose new Plan Designs or new features, work iteratively with these teams to determine the pricing impacts that the new designs or features would have, and incorporate these teams' findings and feedback to refine and finalize Plan Designs to meet objectives for price point and benefits coverage.
Work with product management to ensure benefits plan changes and new plans are successfully launched internally and externally.
Explore, establish, and manage partnerships with other companies to execute Gravie's benefits Plan Design strategy.
Work closely with compliance and legal teams to monitor and understand the regulatory landscape, including regulatory changes, and ensure Gravie's plans are designed and implemented in full compliance with these regulations.

You bring:
Previous experience designing Health Plans and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to solicit feedback that informed the plans you designed
       Excellent analytical aptitude
Previous experience working at a Health Plan
Past responsibility for partnering with actuarial and underwriting functions to price Health Plans and assess their financial performance.  Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, and other common regulatory frameworks that inform Health Plan Design.
       Product development and implementation experience.

Competitive pay is standard. Our unique benefits program is the gravy, i.e., the special sauce that sets our compensation package apart. In addition to standard benefits, Gravie's package includes alternative medicine coverage, flexible PTO, up to 16 weeks paid parental leave, paid holidays, cell phone reimbursement, education reimbursement, and 1 week of paid paw-ternity leave just to name a few.
