- Chaplaincy Services Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, system-wide Chaplaincy Services program, including expected outcomes, objectives, and timeline of goal completion.
- Provide supervision and direction for Chaplaincy Services team members including selection, mentoring, performance coaching and oversight, staff assignments, and service programming goals and performance improvement activities.
- Participates in budget development, monitors budget achievement and assures efficient department operations.
- Attends leadership meetings and participates in various committees and activities that promote Chaplaincy Services and coordination of spiritual care of patients, families, and partners.
- Represents Mercyhealth in community and civic events and within the religious communities and organizations within the Mercyhealth service area.
- Interacts with Mercyhealth physicians and nurses and other care professionals in provision of and coordination of spiritual care within the continuum of care for patients and families,
- Assists in developing and maintaining strong community (partner) relationships through presentations, attendance at meetings and timely follow up.
- Serves as a chaplain, providing spiritual support to patients, families, and partners.
Ethics/Clinical Ethicist Responsibilities:- Provide leadership for Mercyhealth’s system-wide clinical ethics services by promoting an ethics strategy and vision.
- Support a clinical ethics culture throughout Mercyhealth by providing leadership for day-to-day ethics operations and partner activities.
- Provide support and supervision of the system-wide ethics committee and ethics consultation services.
- Oversight and assistance in consultation services by providing patient and partner ethics conflict resolution.
- Oversight and assistance in ethics education by providing training for ethics committee, consult services, and Mercyhealth partners.
- Oversight of policy development by identification and implementation of policies that aligns with ethical standards and standard of care.
- Enhancing awareness and integration of ethics throughout the system.
- Scale the ethics program to meet the needs of the vertically integrated health system
Requires Master of Divinity Degree.
Completion of Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
3+ years of Chaplaincy experience.
3+ years of leadership experience.
