Job description

Under general supervision of the Information Technology Manager II and general direction via the Vice Chancellor, the Information Technology Manager I (ITM 1) performs a variety of responsible and complex duties, providing leadership, strategic direction, and organization of the agency's Network Support and Application Development functions. The Information Technology Manager I provides leadership for staff supervision and accountability as well as actively participates in the identification and development of technology solutions on behalf of the agency. Provides direction and oversight to contractors and other non-agency partners in the use of agency technology tools and resources.

Working Conditions
Ability to use standard computer and/or office machines for an extended period of time.

1. What strategies do you employ to stay updated on emerging technologies and trends? Provide examples of how you've applied this knowledge to improve processes or enhance existing systems.
2. D escribe your experience with modern web Application Development technologies, design methodologies, and software delivery practices.
3. D escribe a time when you led peers through influence during a complex IT project to meet a goal.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Senior level experience in Application Development, Network Support, and/or information security.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service/client service.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with direct management and managing through influence.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply technical standards in a complex IT environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships and ensuring timely execution of contracts and achieving deliverables.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, open-mindedness, flexibility, and tact.
