About the team:

The Network & Acquiring Solutions team (NAS) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and lead. We work across almost every American Express business unit as well as with external partners, providers, and key industry collaborators. We are known to be intellectually curious and problem solvers as we take on the most imperative initiatives facing the payments industry today, such as securing online transactions and enabling faster, more convenient ways to pay.

The Network Capability Delivery team within NAS works to deliver a full-scale modernized Network including new digital products such as Debit, QR, Tokenization and Local Network solutions to meet the evolving demands of global payment networks and adapt to local needs while ensuring continued global interoperability. This enables us to attract new customers, operate in new markets, react to changing regulatory demands, and process new/emerging types of payments. The Role

The Product Owner (Product Manager) is part of the Network Capability Delivery Team. This team interfaces between the business partners and the engineers that provide the subject matter expertise related to their products and processes, creates features and user stories and leads scope discussions and analysis required to define and deliver the minimum viable product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a technical understanding of the Network and act as the subject matter specialist for American Express network functionality
  • Act as a software Product Owner leading the delivery of critical capabilities
  • Work with other product owners, deployment teams and technologies to ensure product vision is met
  • Partner with Technologies and Product Teams to understand the roadmap and prioritize into a backlog with clearly defined features and user stories
  • Utilize agile tools and techniques to drive successful delivery and maximize value to partners
  • Raise risks and issues in a timely manner
  • Identify and drive opportunities for improvement
  • Provide consultancy to business partners (e.g. Operation Teams, Finance, Technology, Compliance) to ensure that processes, capabilities and platforms are utilized appropriately
  • Influence, lead and communicate to all levels across a broad range of customers and constituents as well as build and maintain relationships
  • Develop & Drive Project plan for Platform Decommission

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Product Management & Product Delivery
  • 3+ years of experience in Project Management
  • Agile experience is a must
  • Agile certification/s preferred
  • Technical experience and/or Technical background is a plus

Knowledge/ Skills

    • Experience as a Product Owner/Product Manager or similar role with familiarity with Rally, JIRA or similar tools
    • Experience as a Project Manager with familiarity with project management tools
  • Understanding of Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles and experience effectively managing a backlog of competing initiatives
  • Experience driving results and collaborating in a cross-functional and global environment
  • "Growth Mindset" with a passion for innovative thinking
  • Good blend of analytical skills, technical knowledge, process expertise, and relationship building skills
  • High level of comfort working with technology teams, and a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and development terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required, to craft and deliver effective presentations to senior leaders
  • Flexibility in supporting various time zones, as role supports global initiatives (India, UK & US)
  • Familiarity/experience in payment networks and/or payment products desirable, a plus
  • Payment Authorizations experience a plus

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
