Corebridge Financial Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. About the role
The Manager, Life Policy Compliance is a member of the Life Product Document Solutions ("LPDS") team and will report to the Vice President, State Filings. The LPDS team is comprised of three focus-based units, each working together to assist in the development, approval, and implementation of life-based products and forms while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
This position operates within LPDS' filing team and will be responsible for the management of activities related to drafting, submission, and maintenance of regulatory filings for the purpose of obtaining state approval of life insurance-based products, riders, and related forms. The Manager, Life Policy Compliance will also manage junior level associates regarding tasks related to such drafting, submission, and maintenance of filings, prioritization of work efforts, and provide education and mentoring to continue the development of the larger team.
Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage tasks related to drafting, submission, and maintenance of regulatory filings for the purpose of obtaining state approval.
  • With minimal oversight, analyze product features and regulatory requirements to draft contract language in a manner that meets objectives and satisfies readability requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including Actuarial, Product, Legal, and Illustrations to ensure intended product features are correctly represented while ensuring compliance with state requirements.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies, including the Interstate Compact, to address questions and objections
  • Independently perform research related to identify and complete submission requirements such as checklists and certifications.
  • Review materials created and/or completed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and submission requirements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert to provide information or complete tasks in support of product development and the life product portfolio.
  • Participate in peer-reviews and editing of draft forms prepared by other team members.
  • Prepare summarizations and detailed documentation regarding state specific changes applied to policy forms and communicate those state specific changes to management and various internal teams.
  • Maintain documentation related to state objections and requirements as well as other internal processes and information.
  • Manage projects and assignments of various sizes related to the drafting, submission, and maintenance of regulatory filings.
  • Perform enhanced reviews of materials developed by associates with the goal of identifying areas of improvement and developing a plan to provide mentoring.
  • Assist with inquiries related to state examinations and internal projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for filing and form related matters.

What you need to know
  • Must have proficient knowledge of SERFF filing tools and experience working with state regulators
  • Must have working understanding of life insurance, life insurance policy forms, and policy form drafting (would consider someone with the same experience with annuity products)
  • Previous state filing experience and experience communicating with state regulatory reviewers.
  • Knowledge of state requirements pertaining to life insurance products (prior compliance work with emphasis on life insurance would also be acceptable)
  • College degree in business, financial services, or related studies is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with individual life insurance products, functions and administrative systems
  • 5+ years' relevant work experience; product compliance experience a plus
  • Proven management experience required
  • Excellent research and project management skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail, ability to create detailed reports and run analysis
  • Strong organization and follow-up skills
  • Excellent MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to meet multiple, dynamic demands on a daily basis and to balance those demands with the ability to plan and execute tactics for the future
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and an ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Highly collaborative nature with an ability to build consensus and influence
  • Ability to work with limited guidance and provide recommendations
  • Self-starter, driven, ethical

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ the base salary range is $73,000- $110,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. For positions based in New York, NY the base salary range is $77,000- $110,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
