Job description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Manages and leads the national Kidney Care Advocate team training program, including developing training strategies and curriculum, as well as operationalizing a training cadence for Kidney Care Advocate Team. Liaisons with the Global Medical Office, Clinical Services team as well as marketing brand team to develop new education programs and training that are evidence-based and supportive of adult learning theory. Acts as a subject matter expert to help employees meet organizational goals. Assess the needs of the business, implements training and development plans to enhance effectiveness of the workforce. Ensures successful onboarding and training of both clinical and non-clinical KCAs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees, designs, and delivers training programs to Kidney Care Advocates.
  • Manages the tactical execution of short and long-term objectives through the coordination of activities with a direct responsibility for results.
  • Evaluate current workflow and identify opportunities for improvement in the education and learning process and implement strategies to improve clinical excellence and operational efficiencies.
  • Has significant project and process responsibility, including identifying and leading implementation of required tools and materials for training, instructional design and training development.
  • Develops user manuals, online documentation and other knowledge on services and products such as improve adoption of Care Team Hub.
  • Leads design of web-based courses, documentation and on-demand recorded sessions for internal training.
  • Provides organizational management with the development of and/or delivery of training programs, literature, and structure
  • Analyzes course evaluations to define the development needs of the end users and improve training plans.
  • Creates a positive and memorable training experience for end users.
  • Maintains positive and consistent interaction and relationships with other departments.
  • Helps the organization improve overall performance/effectiveness/communication management by developing people and providing learning opportunities.
  • Works with other departments and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in building and delivering programs that meet the needs of the organization to ensure trainings reflect evidenced based clinical practice guidelines
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to physically cover in person and virtual quarterly training classes at a designed FKC office, as well as maintain in person contact with KCA managers across the country.
  • Travel requirements (up to 50%) by automobile, train, or airplane if necessary. This would include overnight stays for in-person meetings with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate business opportunities.

SUPERVISION:
  • Responsible for the direct training of various levels of Kidney Care Advocate staff

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Advanced Degree desirable
  • Registered Nurse, Licensed Social Worker, or Registered Dietitian degree desirable

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 6 - 8 years' related experience; field preceptor of students and new hires
  • 3+ years' supervisory or project/program management experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year Nephrology/Dialysis experience desired
  • Demonstrated leadership and management competencies and skills including, but not limited to customer service, patient outcomes, continuous quality improvement, team building and employee motivation, decision-making, relationship development and leading cohesive and productive teams.
  • Collaboration skills are a must and demonstrated work experience across sub-cultures is a plus
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills and strong speaking skills
  • Experience in developing and conducting training including knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Experience in managing training projects from needs analysis through development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Exhibits diplomacy, patience and attention to level of detail when conducting training with a wide range of customers
