In this role you will lead the Key Account Technologist (KAT) team to expand product market share by winning development tool of record (DTOR) selections and ensuring competitive process application performance of the installed base. The Key Account Technologists are the ASM product experts who support extensive customer and internal company contacts while driving the introduction of new products, product improvements, and product modifications. This role will require a strong leader that is highly skilled in people, process, and technology across ASM's ALD operations. Further, the role requires someone who is not only skilled in R&D/Innovation, development, engineering, and design for manufacturability, but also someone who is adept at process and organization, continuous improvement and working with and managing people across cultural dimensions in developing and delivering the ALD technology roadmap. This role requires managing interactions and communication between the product development team and the customer to ensure customer issues and concerns are being addressed with solutions and timelines. A persistent approach to Product Life Cycle (PLC) will also be required to achieve strong engagement with the team, develop and implement new processes and organization, and manage the team to achieve PLC deliverables and drive projects to completion to meet customer timelines and exceed their expectations. The successful candidate will have a track record of recruiting and developing industry-leading teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for process application NPI (New Product Introduction), product improvements, and product modifications for key product unit (KPU) installed base
  • Lead the KAT team of senior technical engineers based in Phoenix with global responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers; Responsible for managing all the technical account aspects of customers
  • Responsible for resolution of process and hardware-related escalations in the field
  • Responsible for defining, maintaining, and implementing BKM process for all process applications - including standards, specs, and recipes, installed base performance
  • Drives continuous improvements within the department, both business process-wise and developing employees to the next level
  • Drives continuous improvement of the existing process applications while maximizing use of current hardware and process by influencing users/clients
  • Ensures highly engaged working relationship between KAT department, ASM's customer account teams and customers' engineers to ensure all customer needs and requirements are understood and addressed
  • Drive close cooperation with multiple internal stakeholders, especially with Process Development teams, Global Sales, Service and Spares, Account Teams, Engineering and Global Product Management (GPM)
  • Set, evangelize, and implement ASM processes
  • Embody ASM's mission and values, and consistently reinforce them with the team through everyday actions
  • Develop and deliver the technology roadmap and execute on the product roadmap in collaboration with GPM, Process Engineering and KPU Head
  • Support annual strategic planning process by defining key customer inflections and penetrations

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in material science, physics, chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering or other related engineering field. PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience in the semiconductor wafer processing or capital equipment industry focused in process engineering, technical marketing or product support.

  • Management skills, including coaching and delegating with a track record of successfully managing, recruiting, developing, and scaling highly engaged teams
  • Ability to lead under stressful circumstances, such as multiple parallel escalations; fast responsiveness and decisiveness are ideal
  • Able to build long term relationships of trust with customers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including excellent presentation and influencing skills
  • Self-starter with high energy, strong work ethic, highly motivated and results driven
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to implement and drive tactics, strong at execution
  • A problem solver - communication comes naturally when solving problems and addressing roadblocks.
  • Ability to lead and influence others across cultures
  • Highly collaborative and able to manage conflict
