This role will give you the opportunity to be part of the ASM Global Trade Compliance team, which has the responsibility to ensure that ASM global businesses are conducted in compliance with the various international export control laws and regulations, sanctions, and customs regulations. You will play a hands-on part in developing the Trade Compliance program, policies, and procedures, and provide Trade Compliance guidance and training to increase compliance awareness within the organization. In this role, you will report to the Global Trade Compliance Senior Director. This role falls under the Legal department
Strategy & Roadmap

  • Assess, update, and execute the Global Trade Compliance program for one of the world's leading wafer production equipment suppliers
  • Work closely with engineering teams to classify items such as hardware, technology, and software from export control, and determine the applicable export control jurisdiction(s).
  • Contribute to the implementation of the global strategy for Sanction & Export Controls; co-develop supporting policies and procedures
  • Compliance regulations updates and changes relevant to ASM
  • Support in investigations, audits, and risk- assessments of export control, sanctions, and program functions, root cause analysis on deficiencies, and the development and management of resulting corrective action plans and appropriate policies and procedures
  • Manage the Technology Control Plan globally. Maintain and improve the TCP globally
  • Work closely with engineers to identify new and enhanced technologies and software and assess the applicable export control requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance the proper policies and procedures to ensure export control measures with respect to deemed (re)export, technology transfer or access, software delivery, etc.

Cooperate and Collaborate:
  • Classify items for export control classification number ECCN;
  • Work cooperatively and proactively with the various functions to ensure compliance with all relevant export, customs, sanctions, laws and regulations
  • Establish a strong relationship with the ASM employees to ensure cooperation and assistance in the successful implantation of export control-related projects
  • Develop and educate internal clients on Trade Compliance best practices.

Policy adherence and compliance management:
  • Contribution to the implementation of the Global Strategy for Export Controls and Sanctions and co-develop supporting policies and procedures.
  • Implementation of policies and procedures to safeguard compliance with ASM's Global Export Control Strategy and Sanctions.
  • Manage the Technology Control Plan globally. Maintain and improve the TCP globally
  • Work closely with engineers to identify new and enhanced technologies and software and assess the applicable export control requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance the proper policies and procedures to ensure export control measures with respect to deemed (re)export, technology transfer or access, software delivery, etc.

Education and Must Haves:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience in Trade Compliance/export controls.
  • Implemented TCP- Technology Control Plan
  • Minimum experience of 6 years
  • In-depth knowledge on EAR with respect to technology and software
  • Subject matter expertise of US Export Administration Regulation ("EAR") is a must-have. The candidate must have an in-depth and advanced knowledge of the EAR.
  • Knowledge of the EAR latest rules in China such as MEU, MIEU, etc. is required.
  • Experience in ECCN classification is required.
  • Result-driven, impeccable time management skills, able to demonstrate hands-on ownership and accountability
  • Strong analytical skills, able to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements as well as clear processes and actions
  • Exceptional standards of integrity and ethics, which act as the basis for strong stakeholder relationships
  • Able to balance a curious and strategic mindset for influencing change in trade and export controls
  • Must be very hands-on and operationally focused.
  • We are able to provide relocation support if necessary for the successful candidate
