Manager, Global Medical Affairs

Global Medical Affairs plays a key role in developing Integrated Evidence Plans (IEPs) that include a holistic view of evidence gaps and prioritized data needs across the product lifecycle. We are seeking a well-organized professional to join the Global Medical Affairs team, reporting to the head of Integrated Evidence Planning.
The role will support the development, implementation, and management of IEP generation, as well as facilitating the execution teams, tasked with delivering on the data generation needs, across all Gilead therapeutic areas (TAs). In addition, the role may include management of Medical Affairs research studies. The Therapeutic Area (TA) portfolio is particularly stimulating and broad-based and ranges from established products for diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, C, and D, to newer therapeutic areas, such as oncology and COVID-19.
This position is office-based in our Headquarters in Foster City, CA.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the development of Integrated Evidence Plans through activities such as tracking, preparation, follow-up with cross-functional teams, and active participation in plan and metric development.
  • Contribute to ensuring that the IEP process and execution align with the overall medical/commercial strategy and activities to demonstrate the value of Gilead medicines.
  • Organize cross-functional working group meetings charged with developing and managing the IEP, data generation, and clinical and observational research activities; Ensure alignment of IEP with data generation activities from other functional areas including Value and Access, HEOR, epidemiology, and Clinical Development
  • Enthusiastically collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues in different geographies and time zones within and outside of Medical Affairs
  • Assist with refinement and standardization of IEP processes across therapeutic areas to ensure that the best practices from one therapeutic area are incorporated into other areas.
  • Maintain documentation on the Global Medical Affairs SharePoint site.
  • Utilize and create tools for the collection and analysis of metrics to assess the impact and outcomes of data generation plans.
  • Adhere to all applicable pharmaceutical codes, Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidelines, and Gilead policies.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding/experience in clinical and observational research, or experience in Medical Affairs/pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Established project management, process improvement, and organizational skills, including management of multiple priorities and resources while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of executing clearly defined goals and objectives.
  • Affinity for a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and approach; Must be able to appropriately interact within Global Medical Affairs and across diverse departments, senior management, and external customers/vendors.
  • Aptitude for, and experience in, scientific dissemination of study outputs focused on internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong business skills/acumen
  • Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other reporting and tracking tools.

Education & Experience:
  • Ph.D. or PharmD with 0 years' experience, OR master's degree and 4 Years' experience; OR Bachelor of Science degree with 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry/project management.

The salary range for this position is: $139,145.00 - $180,070.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
