Overview
Schedule: Day Shifts
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Manager, Faculty Development - Academic Affairs is responsible for overssing Faculty Development for all faculty members based at CHLA. In partnership with USC Keck School of Medicine, Faculty Development, this individual will support the faculty advancement program and organize development opportunities for faculty members. This position will also supervise interns and indirectly oversee other staff in partnership with other managers. Under supervision of the Administrative Director, the Faculty Development Manager is responsible for the oversight, development, and management of services and Faculty Development activities established through the Office of Academic Affairs. The Manager ensures Faculty Development operations are consistent with hospital and university goals and objectives. He/she represents the interests of the Academic Department on Faculty Development when interfacing with other departments and committees. The Manager will be responsible for envisioning, strategically developing, delivering and overseeing comprehensive workshop and programs to support the career-long development of faculty in the areas of teaching, learning, research, and creative activities to meet the mission and expectations of the hospital and university. The Manager is responsible for Faculty Development financial management, performance monitoring, and personnel management, to strengthen and sustain the services and activities.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of general management experience in a service environment, physician practice management company, or management service organization preferred. Healthcare expertise. Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Personnel management and business planning experience. Proficiency in using PC-based spreadsheet and word processing applications required. Knowledge of practices in health planning and management sufficient to manage and coordinate the operation of an academic office. Knowledge of fiscal management systems and techniques, human resource management practices including supervision and staff development. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision-making. Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, leadership, researchers and physicians, by providing an open, collaborative management approach, and a commitment to teamwork. Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Evidence of a significant ability to relate effectively to physicians and a strong interest in supporting academic medicine. Skill in organizing work to achieve goals and objectives. Ability to collaborate and manage change in operational and business development areas. Ability to analyze and interpret data, research and prepare comprehensive reports, and monitor quality controls standards. Must have the ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies. A broad-based knowledge of and background in healthcare administration and academic medicine.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree, MBA, MHA, Education highly preferred. Graduate degree in healthcare administration or business administration preferred.
Pay Scale Information
$72,176.00-$129,792.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
