Manager, Event Education Design
Endocrinologists are at the core of solving the most pressing health problems of our time, from diabetes and obesity to infertility, bone health, and hormone-related cancers The Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest and largest organization of scientists devoted to hormone research and physicians who care for people with hormone-related conditions. Reporting to the Associate Director of Event Education Design, the Manager provides primary support for the design, development, and implementation of the Society’s existing and future signature educational conferences, specifically ENDO speaker and session management, and Annual Meeting Steering Committee management. The Manager supports all aspects of the Society’s event-based education, including the development of self-sustaining innovative content, in-person and digital, and US-domiciled and global programming. The role requires extensive interaction with a diverse group of stakeholders and includes working in cross-functional teams with an ability to build consensus among multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll bring to the job:
  • 4+ years' experience in designing and developing continuing medical education (CME/CE) activities for healthcare professionals in an association setting or equivalent adult education industry.
  • Current knowledge of the healthcare industry, pharmaceutical pipelines, health care industry/policies, and CE industry preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to work with a diverse group of stakeholders including expert faculty, key opinion and committee members, cross functional teams, etc.
  • Excellent ability to work independently and autonomously, and multi-task multiple high-level responsibilities and projects with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong program and project management, interpersonal, and delegation skills are required.
  • Experience with ACCME accreditation is highly desired.
  • Ability to travel several times a year and work weekends or after-hours, on occasion.
  • Possess creative and visionary skills to identify and execute innovative educational program designs and formats.

What you’ll own:
  • Provide primary support to the Associate Director of Event Education Design on all aspects of the Society’s event-based education programs, including in-person and digital, as well as US-domiciled and global.
  • Serve as staff support to the ENDO Annual Meeting Steering Committee (AMSC), and other committees (current/future) that pertain to the Society’s signature educational conferences.
    • Provide support in the execution of an annual work plan and supporting project plans for assigned committees’ work
    • Draft and maintain standard operating procedures and related communication templates to support assigned committees’ annual work plans and project plans.
    • Support development and delivery of assigned committee orientations to ensure committees follow recommended practices for content development and collaboration with Society staff.
    • Draft and distribute all AMSC meeting invitations and non-critical communications, including meeting notices, deadline reminders, general communications, etc.
  • At the direction of senior leadership and in partnership with the Associate Director of Event Education Design, explore global, hybrid, and online opportunities for ENDO and derivative events.
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison managing ENDO speakers, sessions, and annual conference call for proposals process, including system build-out, reviewer identification and communications, scoring analysis for submissions, pre-conference communications with selected presenters, and onsite management of all speaker-related tasks.
    • Execute call for submissions/proposals system build, open and close in line with established project plan deadlines.
    • Ensure all content is updated within the call for proposals system and proactively report submission trends, including positive and negative variances on a weekly basis to internal stakeholders and AMSC member leaders.
    • Identify, confirm, and assign proposal reviewers; develop and provide clear and consistent review guidelines and process documentation to ensure a fair and consistent review process.
    • Develop and oversee the preparation of all scored proposal reports.
    • Support associate director in the selection process for award–related sessions.
    • Manage distribution of pre-conference communication to speakers, including registration follow-up notices.
    • Manage and communicate onsite session assignments to speakers and internal and external stakeholders.
    • Manage onsite session materials collection, session cancellation or change updates online and in the annual conference venue.
    • Ensure session content speaker information is delivered to appropriate post-conference distribution platforms (e.g. LMS) as required.
  • Coach and supervise Specialist, Event Education Design to manage content development and program build-out using speaker management system that supports conference programming, including:
    • Program suggestion site.
    • Presenter portal for invitation, disclosure, and confirmation.
    • Speaker/Faculty outreach and follow up.
    • Abstract submission and review site.
    • Abstract grading and scheduling sites.
    • Presentation selection using session builder.
    • Program and itinerary planner.

  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing. Demonstrate ability in using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure. Organize written ideas clearly. Tailor written communication to effectively reach an audience. Express ideas clearly and concisely in writing.

Work Location:
This position is located in Washington, DC and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week to foster our collaborative culture and support cross-functional interaction.
