The Position
The Manager, EHS will support core research processes by:
- Providing leadership & support in attaining an environmentally sound working environment for all US Research Sites.
- Providing leadership & support in attaining a safe working environment.
- Managing efficient & reliable EHS processes that meet customer & regulatory requirements in a cost-effective manner; and
- Continuously improving EHS processes with a Zero incident goal.
Relationships
This role reports to the Head of US R&D Facilities, and will have collaborative and cross-functional relationships/responsibilities with onsite Facilities and Lab Operations, North America and DK teams.This role may manage a team in the future. Facilities team and lab operations teams, R&ED Safety Partner NNAS, affiliate EHS representatives. External relationships include those with business partners and valued vendors.
Essential Functions
- Development of the Environmental Health and Safety program, safety objectives & targets for all US R&ED Sites.
- Ensure the company meets its compliance obligations under federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Monitor & report site performance within environment & safety.
- Responsible for site maintaining environmental permits.
- Serve as primary contact for incident reporting for primary R&ED site
- Responsible for site emergency response including equipment inspections & site drill coordination.
- Establish & maintain waste management programs & ensure site compliance relevant government agencies.
- Identify & reduce EHS risks.
- Build Circular for Zero program and other sustainability initiatives
- Ensure corrective actions address root causes to prevent recurrence and proper records/documents are maintained.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions.
- Constantly operates a computer & other office equipment using hands.
- Able to travel domestically & internationally, up to 15% of the time.
- Able to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety or related field). Advanced degree preferred. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience as appropriate.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of safety & Environmental Health experience.
- Proven knowledge of state, federal & local safety & environmental regulations.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Good presentation & organizational skills.
- Proven process improvement & problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
- Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets.
