Job description

This is a manager position within Business Systems which is responsible for the Enterprise Data Management function at Ace Hardware. Enterprise Data Management is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's database systems. This role involves ensuring data integrity, availability, and security while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to support various business operations and initiatives. Responsibilities also include: overseeing the strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's Data Management framework. This role also involves designing and managing data governance processes.
What you'll do
• This position leads a team of 10 engineers and is accountable for development, coaching, performance and assignment to various projects.
• The individual will work with management across IT as the Data Management function is a shared service used by many teams. Also works with other IT managers to allocate team members to assignments.
• Liaise with database vendors (IBM, Informatica, Oracle, Qlik, Microsoft, Cloudera) to stay informed about updates, licensing, and support options. Keeping abreast of technology is required for this position.
• Evaluate and recommend database management tools and technologies.
• Work with the team, IT management, and others to maintain the Ace Data Management policy, strategy and roadmaps.
• Introduces new Data Management concepts and practices such as Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Architecture to further mature the IT organization.
• Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Define Data Management strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.
• Implement and manage access control mechanisms to safeguard sensitive data.
• Monitor and respond to data security incidents and breaches.
• Stay up-to-date with data privacy regulations and ensure compliance.
Work with your team members to ensure:
• Design and maintain data architecture, including databases and data warehouses.
• Develop and maintain data models, data linage and metadata repositories.
• Collaborate with IT teams to optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
• Monitor and analyze database performance to identify and address bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and system health checks.
• Plan and execute data migrations between different systems or platforms.
• Provide technical support to end-users and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with IT teams to diagnose and resolve system-related problems.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• 5 to 7+ years of experience in managing a Data Management function is required.
• Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must, and knowledge of systems development life cycle methodologies.
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture as it relates to data/information management desirable.
• Proven experience in Data Management and data governance
• Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance (e.g., CCPA, HIPAA).
• Proficiency in data modeling and database design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of relevant tools and technologies (e.g., SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, Hadoop, Cosmos DB, Data Quality tools, etc.).
• Proven experience in database administration and management.
• Understanding of data security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) is a plus.

Compensation Details:
$148900 - $193550 per year
