Job description

The SPLC is seeking a Manager of Community Organizing to join our Alabama State Office!

The Manager of Community Organizing will lead the team of State Community Organizers to build a comprehensive and integrated community organizing program throughout the state of Alabama. The Manager of Community Organizing will establish systems and strategies to support each organizer and to further develop SPLC's coordinated organizing efforts.

Who You Are

Experienced. Demonstrated experienced in community organizing. Proven supervisory experience. Ability to hire, train, establish and monitor staff performance and development goals.

Communicative. Ability to communicate written and verbally effective across lines of differences.

Innovative and Strategic. Ability to develop strategies and troubleshoot concerns to help provide community resources.

Collaborative. Demonstrated experience working across internal departments and grassroots coalitions.

Flexible. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Mission, Vision & Culture Alignment. Demonstrates an awareness for SPLC's mission and vision; and a commitment to ideals of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion and fostering an anti-racist work culture and to anti-racist principles and learning.

What You'll Do

Manage a team of State Community Organizers and provide mentoring and coaching to support the work.

Support the different organizing campaigns and initiatives as directed by the Alabama State Director.

Integrate and coordinate program activity across all the grassroots coalitions.

RepresentSPLC in community and other meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

We are committed to equitable hiring practices, therefore you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.

Minimum five years of experience in community organizing;

Minimum three years of supervisory experience; and

High school diploma or GED.

Compensation & Additional Information

This is an exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $94,793.00 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience. Click here to view the benefits available to SPLC staff.

Where and How You'll Work

This role the following work designations options:

Remote Local: Will work remotely, but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the Alabama SPLC office.

Telework: Will work at the Alabama SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.

Remote Distant: Will work remotely and are not expected to work in the states in which the SPLC has an office or in an SPLC office. May be required to attend occasional meetings or activities in the states in which SPLC has an office or elsewhere.

This position reports to the Alabama State Director.

Other Special Considerations

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
