Job Title: Manager, Adaptive Golf

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our organization as Manager of Adaptive Golf. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and implementation of our Adaptive Golf program, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and golf opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This position requires a passion for promoting inclusivity in adaptive sports.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Coordination:

- Develop and implement Adaptive Golf programs for individuals with (physical, cognitive, sensory impairments) intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

- Collaborate with stakeholders, such as golf courses, rehabilitation centers, disability advocacy groups (aka support groups; Stroke, limb loss/amputee, spinal cord, Parkinsons, etc.), coaches, and volunteers, to establish partnerships and expand program reach. 

- Plan, coordinate, and execute clinics. Create opportunities for Adaptive Golf programs.

- Manage an RSVP system for participants and volunteers – effectively correspond and communicate across different platforms.

- Manage equipment donation program.

- Conduct research on adaptive sports equipment, techniques, and best practices to continuously enhance the programs.

 

2. Team Management and Support:

- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of adaptive sports instructors, golf instructors, coaches, and volunteers on clinic set-up, station objectives, equipment orientation-use, to breakdown and storing equipment and supplies.

- Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, registration, equipment procurement, and assistive technology provision.

- Provide individualized support to participants (or families, PTs, etc.), addressing their specific needs, goals, and concerns.

- Foster a positive and inclusive environment, promoting sportsmanship and personal growth among participants.

 

3. Program Promotion and Outreach:

- Develop marketing strategies to promote Adaptive Golf programs and increase community awareness.

- Organize and participate in community events, workshops and networking opportunities to showcase the programs and recruit new participants.

- Collaborate with the communications team to leverage various promotional techniques to expand awareness. 

 

4. Program Evaluation and Reporting:

- Monitor program effectiveness and collect feedback from participants, instructors, coaches, and stakeholders.

- Analyze data and evaluate program outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

- Prepare regular reports on program activities, achievements, challenges, and outcomes for management and donors.

- Collect participation and volunteer information; optional demographic information (i.e. gender, veteran status, physical, cognitive, etc.)


5. Training and Development:

- Coordinate training sessions and workshops for coaches, instructors, volunteers, and program staff, focusing on inclusive coaching techniques, disability awareness, and adaptive sports and golf best practices.

- Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in Adaptive Golf, and implement relevant knowledge into program development and delivery.

 

This role will provide a unique opportunity to lead and manage Adaptive Golf programming, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to inclusive golf opportunities. The Manager, Adaptive Golf will play a key role in promoting diversity and inclusivity in sports, making a positive impact on the lives of participants.


Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Therapy, Special Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, preferably in a sports or recreational setting.
- Knowledge of adaptive sports and golfing techniques for individuals with disabilities a plus.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Patience is essential.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with disability organizations, schools, community centers, and golf facilities.
- Experience in program development, including curriculum design and implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with relevant software and technology used in adaptive programming.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program activities and events.
Additional Information:
- Golf professional or coach experience is highly desirable for this role. The ideal candidate is an extrovert by nature with a strong passion for people to succeed, an understanding of the game of golf and the ability to teach and coach individuals of all different ability levels.
- The Manager, Adaptive Golf will report directly to the Director of the Foundation, who oversees the MGA's charitable programs.
- The Manager will work closely with senior staff on DOI (Diversity, Opportunities, and Inclusion) projects, ensuring that the adaptive programs align with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
- Collaboration with other MGA staff members may be necessary to ensure the success and smooth operation of the adaptive programs.

- The Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of program participation, expenses, and outcomes, and may be required to provide regular reports and updates to the Director of the Foundation and other stakeholders as needed. 

- Assist with other projects as needed and assigned by the Director of the Foundation.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Salary $70,000 - $75,000 per year
  • Bonus: Eligible for bonus at fiscal year-end, each October.
