Role: The Manager Accounting is responsible for overseeing and directing accounting functions for the Credit Union and its Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs), including general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, fixed assets, prepaids, account reconciliations, branch balancing and special projects. The Manager oversees and prepares entries and adjustments to Credit Union and CUSO records, files, and statements and assists with financial and variance analyses. The Manager performs key roles in internal and external audits, management of revenues and expenses, procedure formation and maintenance, and projects undertaken by the Credit Union. The Manager Accounting directly supervises their direct report staff, providing direction and demonstrating leadership and initiative.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the credit union's policies and procedures for the daily operations of the Accounting department.
- Reviews and verifies the month end general ledger and account reconciliations.
- Responsible for timeliness of the month end activities that are completed within 2-4 business days following the end of each month.
- Ensures expenditures are recorded in accordance with the credit union purchasing and accounts payable policies and procedures.
- Accumulates financial information and provides support for internal and external audits of the Credit Union and its CUSOs.
- Provides backup and support for the VP/Controller, other analyses, regulatory reporting and duties as required.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience: Five or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance profession is required. Extensive experience and knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports is required. At least one year of supervisory experience is required. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and credit union operations is required. Prior supervisory experience in a financial reporting/general ledger area is preferred. Credit Union or banking experience preferred. Experience in Prologue, Symitar, Silverlake, and CUSO Accounting is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

- Must be detail oriented, able to plan, organize and set priorities in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under a high degree of pressure required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets required.
