POSITION GOAL
The Management Information Specialist will assist in the communication process, report generation and maintenance of the centralized file system for Head Start/Early Head Start. Maintaining this system includes receiving, entering, up-dating files and program specific reports. Confidentiality is important in this position.
WAGE AND SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Full Day/Full Year; $16.95 hourly.
- This position is eligible for a $1200 retention incentive after successfully completing 180 days of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensure compliance, program records and documentation required for HACAP programs, child-care licensing regulations, CACFP, Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act and funding requirements.
- Types various correspondence and forms for the unit.
- Assists the HS/EHS Comprehensive Services Supervisor in maintaining program files and records.
- Assists with data entry into the computerized Child Plus software program for the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
- Answers inquiries regarding the Head Start and Early Head Start Program.
- Schedules and completes Head Start/Early Head Start applications on approved schedule
- Implements office procedures and policies for Head Start/Early Head Start Unit.
- Performs other duties as directed by the HS/EHS Compliance Supervisor.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Work effectively with co-workers or independently as necessary.
- Participate in program assessments.
- Provides child ratio coverage in classroom on an emergency basis to meet state licensing and/or federal compliance regulations.
- Performs other duties as directed by the HS/EHS Comprehensive Services Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
1. High School Diplomas or GED.
2. One (1) year post secondary education with clerical or computer and one (1) year data base experience
OR
Two (2) years clerical experience with one (1) year data base experience
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Experience or education demonstrating competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Human Services on child abuse and criminal checks prior to hire and resubmit every two (2) years.
- Pass a pre-employment health examination and subsequent health examinations every three (3) years thereafter.
