In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Mammography Technologist is responsible for obtaining screening and diagnostic mammograms and other tests performed in your department. Examples would include Stereotactic Breast Biopsies, Bone Density and EKG’s. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Control on equipment and helps with maintaining patient records. Maintains ACR Accreditation. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
- Operates mammography equipment in order to provide quality exams and operates equipment in designated work area. (Stereotactic Breast Biopsies, Needle Localization, Seed and Clip Placement, Bone Density, & EKG’s).
- Maintains room and departmental supplies.
- Maintains mammography records. (This includes releasing and digitizing films, and follow through from the start of the exam to the completed resolved status)
- Maintains ACR continuing education requirements.
- Scheduling flexibility.
- 75% attendance at monthly department meetings.
- Performs other related duties requested by Section Supervisor and Department Director.
- Maintains communication with Interpreting Radiologist and other facilities to provide the best outcome for the patient.
- Must become mammography registered within two years of signing job description.
- Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- Current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health and ARRT registered required.
- Mammography technologist certification is requested within 2 years and required at 3 years.
- Failure to obtain within 2 years will result in progressive disciplinary action each quarter (see Personnel Policy No. 90:02 Disciplinary Action).
- BLS certification required.
- Maintains compliance in RQI required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
- Interpersonal and basic clerical skills, ability to communicate well with others.
