POSITION SUMMARY
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the mammography program and care of patients in this area. This person works in conjunction with the Radiologist and Medical Staff in providing an effective breast cancer detection system.
POSITION SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports To: Mammography Coordinator, Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Director of Diagnostic Imaging

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Education: Graduate of Accredited Program, registered by the ARRT or other recognized registry.
- Minimum Work Experience: None
- Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess Texas State Licensure.
- Mammography Advanced Certification
- Must meet FDA and State of Texas requirements.
- Must continue to keep Continuing Education credits up to date.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Mammographer must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift, squat, and maneuver patients in wheelchairs. On the Mobile Coach, Mammographer must be able to operate the wheelchair lift, help set up and take down the Coach. The Mobile Coach requires working in all weather conditions. The position requires a willingness to work well with others and to always demonstrate courtesy, tactfulness, compassion and confidentiality. She must be willing to act as teacher and counselor. She should be empathetic with patients and their concerns about breast cancer. She has to be able to maintain professionalism under stressful conditions. There is always a danger of radiation exposure on contracting a contagious disease, but if proper precautions are taken these will be minimized.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD’s values and a commitment to HMHD’s Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Mammographer performs daily QC on the digital mammography equipment, and the bone density machine. Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms and bone density exams, as well as assists the Radiologist with breast biopsy procedures.
7. Mammographer also documents results of patient’s mammograms into the MRS system, prints and sends result and recall letters to patients. Tracks patients with abnormal findings according to the MQSA guidelines.
8. Maintains ALARA principles when exposing patients to ionizing radiation. Ensures the safety of patients at all times.
9. Follows established MQSA, ACR accreditation guidelines, follows HMHD employee policies and specific mammography department policies and procedures. Maintains a record of Continuous Medical Education and renews the ARRT certification, Texas License and CPR certification as required.
10. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Director and Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Radiologist or Administrator.
11. Assists in other areas where trained and as needed. Performs any other tasks to fill the needs of the department, hospital and its patients.
Pay: $39.00 per hour
