Sigma Healthcare team is looking for an experienced Mammographer for our client to work onsite in Wrangell, AK
Shift: Days, Full Time
EMR Used : EPIC
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
  • Diagnostic Imaging teams at Samaritan Health Services use state-of-the-art imaging technology while providing health care teams with the information needed for a fast, accurate diagnosis.
  • Imaging services include: X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, CT Scan, Digital Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT Mobile, and Ultrasound services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Must provide radiographic examination within department and other areas of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation. Must exercise professional judgement in performance of procedures applying principles of radiation protection.
  2. Maintains patient records and files.
  3. Assumes responsibility for departmental quality assurance program.
  4. Pursues continuing education.
  5. Transfers patient to and from radiology.
  6. In the absence of a supervisor, can assume responsibility for the department.
  7. Rotates shifts as required.
  8. Performs ancillary duties as requested by supervisor.
  9. Follows policies and procedures as set up by SEARHC Administration.
  10. Assists in general hygiene of department and self.
  11. Should be able to work well in situations of stress.
  12. Must be willing and able to take call and report to work within 20 minutes (if CT/Xray+Mammo).
  13. Must maintain competency in licensed modality.
  14. Able and willing to perform other duties as assigned.
  15. Competent in teleradiology transmission.
  16. Assist with invasive procedures and knowledge of these procedures.
  17. Competent in sterile technique.
MAMMOGRAPHY:
  1. Can perform the following:
    1. Quality control
    2. Screening
    3. Diagnostic
  2. Complete 5 CEU’s Mammography credits per year documented per ACR/FDA requirements.
  3. Performs 100 mammograms per year documented per ACR/FDA requirements.

Lead Technologist (If Applicable):
  1. Will work in conjunction with Imaging Manager and Director, supports development and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  2. Reviews, edits, corrects, and validates PACS to ensure accurate patient procedure image labeling.
  3. Maintain organized and productive workflow within the clinical area.
  4. Assign daily responsibilities for front line staff.
  5. Respond to staff concerns promptly.
  6. Works to identify and solve operational problems.
  7. Oversee new staff orientation.
  8. Serve as an expert resource for staff in clinical specialties as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  9. Maintain best practices to ensure optimization of imaging protocols.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS :
  • Attends department/organizational meetings, in-services, and disaster drills.
  • Willing to participate and serve on departmental, organizational, and community committees and teams
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited Radiography School
Experience
  • 2 years’ experience Radiography
  • 1 year experience Mammography
License/Certifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certified Radiography and Mammography
  • Must complete annual educational requirements for licenses/certifications in areas where you function, i.e, CT dose.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology used in standard radiographic and CT exams.
  • Extensive knowledge of radiation physics and protection (ALARA).
  • Extensive understanding and knowledge of CT (computed tomography).
  • Considerable knowledge of digitized imaging and multiple computer systems.
Skills:
  • Skilled at independently performing radiographic and CT exams.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Skilled in organizing and cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment in serviceable condition.
Abilities:
  • Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with radiologists, providers, patients, computer technologists, and SEARHC staff.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks in a small department.
  • Able to learn new imaging exams as required by radiologists or providers.
