Job Description

BeVera Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Malaria in Pregnancy Specialist to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The objective of this contract is to provide technical and administrative support to the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) in several key areas. A core objective of PMI’s work is to reduce the unnecessary burden of malaria by improving access, coverage, and uptake of proven Malaria interventions. Prevention of Malaria in Pregnancy (MIP) is a core component of malaria control and elimination programs in PMI focus countries. The MIP team, in conjunction with the RBM MIP Working Group is focused on engaging various partners at global and country levels to advance uptake of intermittent preventive treatment in Pregnancy (IPTp).


The Malaria in Pregnancy Specialist will support the CDC team to provide services including but not limited to:

  • Candidate will support Malaria in Pregnancy activities in PMI-supported countries with a variety of tasks, i.e., participating on regular inter-agency calls, discussions, and meetings, supporting development of technical guidance, implementing partner workplan development, and reviewing of partner deliverables
  • Candidate will review and provide feedback on MIP section of Malaria Operation Plan (MOPs) to ensure they are compliant with PMI Technical guidance, WHO guidelines and global best practices
  • Candidate will collaborate with PMI malaria service delivery implementing partners and the PMI country activity managers to develop and monitor effective activities to support MIP and service delivery activities
  • Candidate will contribute to tracking progress towards effective MIP interventions
  • Candidate will support potential activities related to the design, implementation and analysis of MIP data using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Candidate will analyze data from routine and study-related surveys to better understand uptake of MIP interventions and conduct logistic regression analysis to identify factors contributing to ANC and IPTp uptake
  • Candidates will support 2-3 PMI-supported to improve the quality of MIP programming and provide remote and in-country technical assistance
  • Candidates will support developing and updating visualizations and monitoring metrics related to MIP for PMI countries.
  • Candidate will assist with monitoring and quality control of operations research data collected by partners and provide technical support to ensure data collected is of high quality
  • Candidate will prepare and deliver presentations and reports for variety of audiences
Requirements:

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements for successful performance under the anticipated contract:

  • Master’s degree or higher required
  • 3-5 Years Public Health Experience in vaccine interventions
  • Experience working in and with the CDC
  • Experience with global health and malaria related programs desirable
  • Data management skills using statistical programs (SAS, SPSS, R) and/or other data programs used with visual data, and data analysis experience to conduct program-wide data monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide range of people including government officials, scientific and program staff, and individuals at all levels of management.
  • Skill in preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
  • High levels of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications.
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally.
  • Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some CDC employees have been authorized to work virtually.
