Major Gifts Manager (Remote)


THE ROLE:

In collaboration with the Development Team, the Major Gifts Manager will manage a portfolio of current individual funders and prospects throughout the country, by designing and developing solicitation strategies; identifying new funding opportunities; and personally soliciting gifts and continually stewarding major gift donors.

This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Development.


This is a fully remote position with no location requirement, but a strong preference for candidates who are based in the Bay Area, California. We encourage candidates from all locations within the United States to apply.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE:

  • Secure Major Gifts: Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major gift donors and donor advisors by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Identify, Cultivate and Steward Donors/Prospects: Identify major gift prospects and develop compelling engagement strategies to solicit and close gifts as outlined above.
  • Prospect Pipeline: Build a strong pipeline of prospects with a focus on the Western region.
  • Travel: Conduct face-to-face visits with major donors and prospects for the purpose of field research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Report and Database Management: Prepare written proposals, gift agreements in collaboration with NGA’s Finance team, donor collateral, and other materials needed to define, secure and document Major Gifts.
  • Effectively utilize Salesforce to maintain records of contacts with donors and prospects; conduct donor research to target appropriate givers and their capacity; and track, evaluate and present relevant information.

ABOUT YOU:

  • 3-5 years of experience in development, advancement, or fundraising positions, with demonstrated success at nonprofit or political organizations.
  • Proven track record of closing Major Gifts in the range of five+ figures.
  • Ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong professional relationships with stakeholders to build lifelong partnerships and trust.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and able to manage multiple projects well, working both independently and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational, strategic, and analytical skills, ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects while clearly measuring performance and meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, do-it-yourself, start-up environment and calmly switch gears when priorities/objectives change.
  • Collaborative problem solver with a can-do attitude and ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting.
  • Commitment to representing NGA with enthusiasm, warmth, and professionalism.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $72,000-$85,000/annually. The final base salary will be determined by various factors, including individual qualifications and internal parity, which will be objectively assessed during the interview process.
