About the Position: The Mississippi Department of Archives and History seeks a maintenance team member to serve in Administration. This position involves work in multiple locations in Jackson, MS, including, but not limited to, the buildings and grounds of the William F. Winter Building, Two Mississippi Museums, Old Capitol Museum, Charlotte Capers Building, GM&O Depot, and other MDAH sites as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Building: performing routine custodial work and cleaning activities; moving and arranging furniture; preparing facilities for meetings and special events, including setup and takedown when complete; shipping, receiving, delivering, and dropping off packages to appropriate department locations within buildings.Grounds: inspecting grounds and parking areas of multiple locations and reporting anything that needs correction; ensuring parking lots, sidewalks, and entryways into buildings are litter-free; and reporting unusual activity.Parking Facilities: Assisting in the daily operations of the parking facility; janitorial-related tasks necessary to maintain the parking facility; periodic checks of the garage and reporting any light outages, issues with the automated ticketing system, safety concerns, or any suspicious activity; providing friendly customer service and direction.Mail Room: Receiving, sorting, and distributing mail; ensuring the delivery of outgoing mail to the post office; weighing and applying postage to correspondence; and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.The work schedule for this role is Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applicants should be willing to work on weekends and during evening hours if required. Employees working beyond their regular schedule will accumulate compensatory time, which can be used at a later date.
