Posting Summary
Supervise and schedule own work and that of skilled and semi-skilled tradespersons in order to maintain building systems and components. Coordinate and oversee maintenance repairs, emergency service and preventative maintenance programs. Assign, schedule, coordinate and review job assignments. Instruct personnel concerning assignments and inspect work to ensure that is it performed in a productive, safe and satisfactory manner. Ensure all personnel remain proficient in trades by coordinating training in conjunction with Training & Compliance Office. Responsible for code compliance and regulatory compliance of applicable codes, UVM policies and Union contracts. Conduct performance evaluations for assigned staff. In conjunction with Zone Manager, hire, motivate, develop and discipline personnel. Ensure the most efficient use of department resources. Provide technical assistance for outside contracted services. Access information utilizing computers. Promote a work place which encourages safety within the field and shop. Operate a University vehicle. Report to a Zone Manager and actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
High school diploma and Masters license and six years of experience in two or more skilled trades required OR Associate's degree in engineering, facilities management, or construction management and five to six years of experience in facilities/maintenance required. One-year supervisory experience required. Knowledge of OSHA Regulations. Read/Interpret specifications. Computer skills required. Valid driver's license and driver check required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) while performing specific job tasks. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check.
