Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the maintenance, repair, and renovation of hospital facilities; performs plumbing, carpentry, electrical, remodeling, painting, and a variety of other related craft work as assigned; operates a variety of maintenance equipment including hand, power, shop tools, etc.
Responsibilities
- Maintains, repairs, cleans and operates the hospital mechanical areas, exterior grounds and within the hospital.
- Performs basic maintenance duties and repairs as assigned.
- Maintains equipment; performs minor equipment repairs using power and hand tools.
- Performs a variety of other unskilled or semi-skilled tasks such as minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor electrical work, lamp changing and drywall maintenance.
- Responds to emergency problems in the facility; performs emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes maintenance work orders, tests and inspections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: None
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' work experience required, experience working as a Maintenance Worker/technician preferred.
- Licensure/Certification(s): Valid unrestricted driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry and construction principles for repairs and installations.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, and building codes to ensure compliance in all maintenance activities.
- Understanding of emergency response procedures, including addressing urgent issues and ensuring the safety of employees, patients and visitors.
- Understanding of materials, tools, and supplies used in maintenance work and the ability to manage inventory effectively.
- Readiness to learn and adapt to innovative technologies, equipment or maintenance techniques.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk. The employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and reach overhead.
