Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide entry-level facilities support services to the college. This includes custodial/janitorial services, grounds maintenance, and courier service.
Job Duties
- Gather and empty trash - (Essential)
- Sweep, mop, or vacuum building floors - (Essential)
- Strip, buff, wax floors - (Marginal)
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and stock them with supplies - (Essential)
- Clean and disinfect interior classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas - (Essential)
- Clean spills and other hazards with appropriate equipment - (Essential)
- Wash windows, walls, and glass - (Essential)
- Clean and disinfect surfaces that are touched frequently - (Essential)
- Perform routine outdoor grounds maintenance - (Marginal)
- Lock doors to secure buildings - (Marginal)
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (HiSET or GED)
One year of previous or similar custodial/janitorial experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and tools used in general custodial work
Ability to pay attention to detail and take pride in quality of work
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, floor waxers, etc.
Ability to stoop, bend, and walk/stand for long periods of time
Ability to reach objects using body, arms, and/or legs
Manual dexterity to grasp or assemble objects
Static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (up to 40 pounds)
Interpersonal skills, pleasant demeanor, and professionalism with coworkers, students, and the public
Salary
Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines
