Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance, cleanliness and sanitation of the building, equipment and property as directed. The incumbent will provide exemplary service to members and prospective members, demonstrating good human relation skills and a willingness to help maintain building and grounds.
Specifically looking for experience with pools, HVAC, plumbing, pumps, motors, high and low voltage, patching, painting, tile and grouting, and other general maintenance duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 21
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three years or more of general maintenance experience required
- Basic experience in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, general building systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Pesticide certification
- CPO certificate within 120 days of hire
- HVAC certificate preferred
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification within 30 days of hire
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain safe, clean, sanitary conditions throughout the building and property; eliminate safety hazards.
- Ensure the YMCA is attractive and clean by completing all duties on daily schedule; may perform wet and dust mopping, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities with regards to lawn care & snow removal, and general repairs.
- Responsible for operations and maintaining of all property including but not limited to basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC.
- Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Record and report all needed repairs; perform repairs as directed.
- Coordinate with program staff as needed for facility usage and availability; function set-up and break down.
- Maintain and operate equipment in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
- Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work schedule will include daytime, evening and weekend hours and ability to travel to all program activity sites.
