We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, hardworking people to join Alcon. As a Maintenance Technician IV, you will be trusted to perform installation, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on molding manufacturing equipment at our Houston, TX Manufacturing Facility.
A typical day in the role will include:
- Expertise in a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment.
- Ability to identify the root cause by machine, mold or material issues.
- Replacing defective mechanical & electric components and updating software and machine communications.
- Ability to read and understand Drawings, Diagrams Sketches, Specifications, Prints, Manuals.
- Assisting engineering with validations, integrating new equipment and software.
- Redesigning optical, vacuum, electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems for incorporation on existing manufacturing equipment.
- Assigning and monitoring work for technicians and day-to-day activities. Updating supervisor of safety and equipment related issues.
- Developing lower-level technicians and entire team’s technical skills.
- Coordinating activities to complete required preventative and daily maintenance.
- Leading critical spare part identification and Inventory management to drive machine availability.
- Leading shutdown activities and tasks.
- Supporting department R&M spend and budget tracking.
- Maintaining training and ensuring all on-the-job training for junior techs is completed.
- Estimating labor and equipment costs and preparing requisitions.
- Daily walkthroughs when Supervisor is unavailable.
- Maintaining a strong Safety and Quality mentality, leading by example in these areas.
- Seamlessly navigating competing priorities while collaborating across all departments, including but not limited to, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Toolroom, Quality and HSE.
- Detailed understanding of molding machines, equipment, components, and accessories (Ejector bars, clamps, bolts, washers, spacers, nozzle tips, hot runner controllers, hydraulic power packs, EOAT, thermolators, valve gates etc.).
- Driving a continuous improvement culture, focused on Safety, Quality, and overall productivity.
What You'll Bring to Alcon:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 2 Years of Relevant Experience
- Work hours: Weekend Day Shift (12 hours): Friday - Sunday and every other Thursday, 4:45 AM - 4:45 PM CST
- Travel Requirements: 0 - 5%
