Job Title: Maintenance Tech II

SUMMARY:
To work independently and cooperatively to meet and / or exceed the expectations of the customer, company and department, through established and maintained procedures. Maintain positive / productive behavior, showing care for the customer and fellow employees, without compromising company or personal standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES:
Routinely inspect equipment
- Routinely inspect equipment to identify / report potential equipment failure.
- Routinely inspect equipment to identify / report potential equipment safety issues. (personnel and / or food safety)
- Routinely inspect plant utilities to identify / report potential equipment failures.
Perform maintenance duties
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and /or assigned to process equipment.
- Perform repairs to maintain the operational ability and integrity of process equipment.
- Maintain areas outside of processing areas, to the level of requirements of the Master Sanitation Plan.
- Perform preoperational equipment setup / maintenance and post operational equipment teardown / maintenance on process equipment.
Operate equipment
- Safely operate various maintenance power tools and measuring instruments.
- Safely operate gas cutting and welding systems.
- Safely operate forklifts, manual and /or electric pallet jacks (Plant Certification)
Maintain all required maintenance & company records and documents
- Maintain updates, create and do Work Orders & Preventive Maintenance Worksheets within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Maintain and understand how to use equipment manuals that are located within the Maintenance Library.

- Requires electrical schematic navigation (controls / safeties / VFD s)
- Requires fabrication.
- Requires tasks, that are assigned verbally, written or digitally by Maintenance Leadership to be completed as directed.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Attend GMP & Safety meetings.
- Attend training that is made available in relation to job description.
- Evaluate and contribute to the management of the parts inventory level.
Food Safety and Employee Safety
- Maintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of G.M.P. s and follow accordingly.
- Maintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of Standard Meat Company s Maintenance Program, Safety programs and all Company policies and follow accordingly.
- Maintenance personnel shall maintain the integrity and cleanness of personal tools and company tools.
- Maintenance personnel under no circumstances shall bypass equipment safety devices.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II
- Must possess a strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
- Must be able to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate level problem-solving skills
- Air filter identification and replacement
- V-Belt identification and replacement
- Light Bulb identification and replacement
- Basic Plumbing identification and repair (Water Closet, sinks, fittings, Pipe threading, Etc.)
- Door repair (Seals, handles, Etc.)
- Inspection of Facility safety devices (Fire Extinguisher, Eye wash station, Etc.)
- Maintain building and grounds
- Oil identification and change
- Bearings identification, lubrication, and repair
- Conveyor belt identification and repair
- Pneumatic hose identification and repair
- Process equipment assembly
- Must be able to complete electrical identification and repair (Plug, Relay, VFD, Etc.)
- Must be able to complete Motor/Gearbox identification and repair
- Tap and Die identification and utilization
- Basic welding and fabrication
- Sound understanding of safety relays and circuits
- Must be able to test electrical devices (Motor, Brakes, Etc.) and identify issues
- Building systems identification and operations and repairs (Boilers, Air Compressors, HVAC, Refrigeration, Etc.)
- Equipment Overhauls (Complete rebuilds of Electrical and Mechanical Systems)
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Root Cause Analysis problem solving.
- Evaluate and contribute to the equipment maintenance scheduling.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma with a Trade school certification and / or 3 years related experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme cold temperature. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. (hearing protection required)
Until properly trained, maintenance mechanics will not work on any equipment or building systems they have not been trained on. It is the responsibility of members of the maintenance team to ask for assistance and/or training on any tasks they are not qualified to perform.
