Summary of Position
At Alco, we're dedicated to providing quality apartments for the low-income families who call our communities home. At each property (or insert property name), the Maintenance Technician carries out property improvements as determined by the Community Manager and the Lead Maintenance Technician. They frequently interact with residents, providing a patient, knowledgeable presence, and they enjoy improving residents' lives by improving residents' homes.
This individual should have some maintenance experience as well as a dedication to improving the lives of those around them; they are detail oriented, driven, and ready to grow with Alco.

Essential Job Functions
- Ensure each home is high quality: appliances are functioning well, and finishes are satisfactory for the individuals and families who will call the apartment home
- Regularly inspect apartment homes and determine what improvements and repairs are needed
- Repair appliances including refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, and HVAC units
- Repair damage to walls, ceilings, cabinets, and other finishes
- Repair and replace windows, doors, flooring as needed
- Use carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills to fix issues in apartment homes
- Collaborate with the Lead Maintenance Technician to ensure preventative maintenance and unplanned maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner

Job functions include:
- Using ladders to access roof areas, balconies, attic spaces, and crawl spaces.
- Distinguishing by sight circuit breaker positions and valve positions, removing and reattaching plumbing and electrical appliances without causing danger to himself/herself or others.
- Using audible alarm leak detection equipment for both explosive and inert gases.
- Refueling gasoline powered equipment without presenting any danger to himself/herself or others, which requires muscular control
- Working in extreme weather conditions.
- Frequently moving and maneuvering objects weighing up to 50 pounds (or more)
Uniforms and Safety Equipment
If uniforms are provided, maintain uniforms in clean, repaired condition. Maintain all safety equipment.

Qualifications
Education, Skills, and Abilities
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English.
- Current and valid driver's license in the state where you live for operation of vehicles in furtherance of company business.
- At sites with CFC recycling equipment, possess or be prepared to obtain within 12 months, necessary licensure.
- EPA Type I Certification is required, or must be prepared to obtain certification within 90-days after being employed
- At sites with CFC recycling equipment, possess or be prepared to obtain within 60 days, necessary licensure.
- Entry level position, general maintenance experience preferred.
- Must not be on the Denied Participation list issued by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
