The Maintenance Mechanic/ Electrician oversees the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems within the plant. They test existing equipment and determine if components of a system need to be upgraded or replaced. They check switches, motors, regulators and other parts of an industrial electrical system, including but not limited to hydraulic, pneumatic and other kinds of systems.
Main Responsibilities/Duties:
- Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring and equipment.
- Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the County and State Level.
- Perform rigging activities, safety related functions and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
- Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools, both hand and power.
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge.
- Competent with programming VFDs.
- Must demonstrate the ability to safely use ladders, forklifts and man lifts.
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s (Allen Bradley a plus)
- Proficient in testing of electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using proper testing devices.
- Experience in electrical troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostics of Variable Frequency Drives and PLC’s used in 208v-480v systems.
- Ability to read and understand machinery schematics and wiring diagrams. Ability to read European wiring prints a plus.
- Responsible for breakdown and assembly of machinery.
- Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers.
- Perform duties in a work environment that will be cold and hot and dirty at times.
- Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed.
- Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision while maintaining OSHA safety compliance and SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Education:
Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Candidates will be required to pass a pre employment background, drug and work screen.
- Must be available to work 10 hour shifts, nights and or days, some weekends, call outs and overtime when required.
- Candidate must have a strong desire to part of a start-up growing company which holds skilled employees accountable for their actions.
