JOB TITLE: Machine Maintenance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Process Equipment Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Initial responder when a line stops producing; assures that the appropriate mechanical help is applied to correct any problems
- Responsible for production equipment adjustments (clearing jams, aligning registration, making press adjustments, monitoring fill levels, cleaning sensors, etc.)
- Set up equipment to match specifications and test tolerances
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair or replace mechanical and pneumatic systems, as well as simple electronic controls
- In charge of routine and preventive maintenance (lubricate, clean, check wear components, replace parts, lock out /tag out) to ensure the machines continue to run smoothly
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, schematics, repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary
- Inspect and monitor work in operational areas, examine tools and equipment to detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures, safety rules, and cleanliness
- Supervise a small number of machine operators at times
- Assist engineering with equipment builds and technical issues
- Maintain and update equipment records and QA logs
- Perform and document calibration and PM’s as required
*This position is very hands-on. Technicians are usually in the production area “on-their feet" about 80% of the shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience working with machinery maintenance, in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blue prints, schematics, must exhibit strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Experience with computer aided design tools preferred (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Solid Edge)
- Has prior troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience with PLC driven systems
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks in a self-directed work environment and maintain high levels of productivity
- Basic math skills and use of measuring devices and calipers are needed for this position
- Good verbal and written communication skills; Strong attention to detail
- Ability to operate Bridgeport type mill and surface grinder to machine / fabricate necessary repair parts
- Proven safety record and adherence to regulations and procedures
- Possesses a high level of urgency and can work with minimal supervision
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Valid driver’s license required
