Purpose: Provides carpentry, cosmetic repairs and painting. Performs routine tasks such as moving and repairing furniture, hanging pictures, installing shelves, and repairing/installing doors, frames, and hardware. Performs routine repairs and preventive maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

Duties:

• Performs painting, carpentry, and limited masonry work. Prepares surfaces and applies paint, stains, and varnishes. Hangs and fits doors, repair locks and installs hardware. Hangs shelves and other wall-mounted items. Moves and repairs furniture.
• Assists in building, renovation, and remodeling projects as necessary.
• Performs minor plumbing maintenance, such as repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, and replacement/repair of defective fixtures.
• Performs minor electrical maintenance, such as replacement of wall switches, receptacles, light fixtures, ballasts, sockets, fuses, cords, door operators, and power cords.
• Performs minor repairs of appliances, such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and food service equipment.
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
• May work alone or in teams as required. Contributes to a team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Supervision Received:

Works under general supervision on routine work, referring questionable cases to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:

2-3 years of related experience. Familiar with the use of all equipment related to building maintenance activities.

Specialized Training:

Basic computer proficiency. Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
