SSAB has a great opportunity for industrial maintenance professionals with 8-10 years' experience as a General Maintenance Superintendent.
POSITION PURPOSE
Strategically plan, organize and schedule personnel and equipment to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations while meeting or exceeding production, quality, environmental, and budgetary goals. Manage the proactive identification of problem areas and assessment of equipment and parts to determine repair or replacement needs. Ensure timely and accurate communication with staff and key personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participate in and support the overall management of operations related to maintenance
- Work closely with the General Manager and Department Superintendents
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
- Strategically plan, organize and schedule personnel and equipment to ensure effective and efficient operations
- Manage the proactive identification of problem areas and assessment of equipment and parts to determine repair or replacement needs; develop corrective action plans when required
- Manage the hiring, training, supervision, coaching and professional development of maintenance employees
- Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures and housekeeping requirements
- Ensure adherence to company and international standards in quality and environmental
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service companies to ensure timely and cost-effective services during operations, down days, and outages
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies and Experience
Required:
- 8-10 years of general maintenance manager experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills and relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance management
- Proven track record of strategic planning, organizing, and scheduling personnel and equipment to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations while meeting or exceeding production, quality, and budgetary objectives
- Experience managing the proactive identification of problem areas, the assessment of equipment and parts to determine repair or replacement needs, the development of corrective action plans
- Experience planning large-scale projects, project management, estimating, procurement, work orders, purchasing, and technical advising
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors and service companies
- Understands hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, circuits, and isometric spool drawings
- Experience with predictive maintenance best practices including alignment/vibration and thermal imaging
- Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance, including cranes
- Understand continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles; 6S; root cause analysis
- Safety oriented with a proven track record
- Experience with welding, fabrication, blueprint and diagram reading, lock out/tag out, confined space, fall arrest, fall protection and fall protection inspection, and rigging/lifting
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
- Proficient in Maintenance Connection, Maximo, or other CMMS
Preferred:
- 10 years maintenance manager experience in a steel manufacturing environment
Education
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent

- BS in an engineering discipline
