Maintenance Planner
Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner reports to the Processing Maintenance Superintendent, and the primary role is to ensure that all routine maintenance activities are correctly scheduled and resourced to minimize downtime and to ensure targeted equipment reliability between planned maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities

• Proactive involvement with continuous OHS improvement processes.

• Operate in accordance with the Company's Environmental Policy, and comply with other sites' environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage all activities in a manner that prevents pollution and minimizes damage to the natural environment.
• Minimize waste generation through reduced consumption and increased re-use and recycling.
• Operate in accordance with Company's Stakeholder Policy.
• Maintain work order status from creation to closure. Apply record keeping notes and codes to track key information including damage, abuse, normal wear, etc.
• Organize and schedule downtime by coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, and vendors to ensure manpower, equipment, and tool availability for all crafts.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs utilizing the manpower and talent supplied by the Fixed Plant Maintenance, Condition Monitoring and Electrical Supervisors.
• Ensure correct parts are staged for scheduled preventive maintenance and backlogged repairs.
• Create preventive maintenance schedules and work orders for equipment, modify preventive maintenance as needed, ensure all procedures, pump wear data sheet, parts list, and calibration sheets are an integral part of the work order.
• Generate purchase requisitions. Assure purchase requisitions use correct account coding and are posted to the appropriate work orders.
• Evaluate component rebuild options vs. new procurement and communicate logical decision to management.
• Work closely with vendors and warehousing to ensure stock availability, validate min/max quantities, and manage inventory additions and deletions.
• Prepare "score of Work" for vendor rebuild and ensure quote for repairs from the vendor matches the scope of work requested.
• Research and cost compare items requiring an Authorization for Capital Expenditure.
• Review invoices and code accordingly with business unit and object codes.
• Prepare for weekly scheduling meetings by organizing backlog and PM reports for Mechanical, Surface Electrical, Instrumentation, surface operations, Condition Monitoring and HVAC crews. Conduct scheduling meetings, set all weekly schedules and prepare selected work orders for all crafts.
• Conduct research, obtain price and availability quotes, and direct order parts and/or equipment essential to complete work assigned to Processing Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation, Condition Monitoring and HVAC Departments.
• Maintain records and archive files.
• Set up accommodation for vendors, contractors, etc. and ensure all expenses are logged into the work order for prompt and accurate payment.
• Ensure MSHA requirements are met, including annual crane inspections, annual ground checks, and pressure vessel inspections.
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
• Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 4 years practical experience in mechanical/electrical planning or other related field.
• Computer literacy - Microsoft Office Suite and Pronto or similar CMMS.
• Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Mining industry fixed plant equipment planning and scheduling and/or mechanical experience with computer-based maintenance planning/scheduling.
• High level of organizational and planning skills.
• Technical knowledge of fixed plant equipment & parts.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
