Under direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Pipefitter is responsible for assembling and installing pipe systems and pipe supports. Installs pipe for steam, hot water, heating, and cooling systems. Piping may include steel, copper, iron, PVC, and plastic.

Essential Duties Job Functions:
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
- Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer, and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
- Threads pipe, using pipe threading machine. Bends pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
- Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
- Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
- Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools
- Receives work orders and carries out insulation duties.
- Prepares and maintains maintenance logs and records.
- Performs all work in a safe manner in accordance with safety practices and procedures.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Performs duties such as, but not limited to work and plant area clean up, file maintenance, warehouse space maintenance and telephone answering as required.
- Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
- Performs periodic stock inventories and request material requisitions for replacement items as required.
- Ability operate Government or Company-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Assists and supports other departments, staff and/or trade groups as needed or directed.
- Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other related work as required or assigned.

- Harmoniously working with other employees and customers.
- Working with the Supervisors and Operators to outline work to be done, after which incumbent is expected to work independently.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Five years (5) years' experience as a journeyman pipefitter, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
