Job Title:Maintenance Parts Clerk

Department:Maintenance

Reports To:Maintenance Manager/Supervisor

FLSA Status:Nonexempt/Hourly

Summary This position is responsible for the logistical and clerical support of all maintenance and repair of production equipment, facility, grounds, fire protection system and refrigeration system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The Maintenance Parts Clerk provides support to the Maintenance department performing a variety of cross-functional duties including but not limited to the purchasing of MRO/Maintenance parts, managing parts inventory, entering work-orders, and creating reports.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, clean and functional Parts Inventory System.
  • Orders all parts for inventory in a timely manner, receives them and catalogs their arrival.
  • Process all maintenance invoices dealing directly with vendors and OEMs.
  • Provide support to the maintenance department by processing all paperwork, creating/running reports, and tracking parts usage.
  • Input data into computer systems related to preventative maintenance tasks (PMs), work orders, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring all parts are tagged, logged into computer system, and stocked back into proper location.
  • Establish and maintain maximum and minimum inventory levels of materials, supplies, and repair parts.
  • Order and receive all supplies and verify all purchase orders against bills of lading.
  • General Clerical duties; filing, coordinating schedules, etc. for the department.

EQUIPMENT: Processing and manufacturing equipment. Hand and power tools, welding equipment, pallet jacks and forklifts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standing on wet cement floors. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures from minus 50 degrees to 90 degrees. Limited visibility due to cold in work areas and the use of heat from water hoses. Slippery floors. Wet environment. Noise level is moderate to high. Some outdoor work.

Qualifications: A Parts Clerk should have good math, computer, and communication skills to work in a stockroom or warehouse position. The person in the role of a Parts Clerk should have good attention to detail when working with inventory. Must be willing and capable of learning and using Mainsaver software system.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Some general maintenance or related experience preferred. On-the-job training will be provided.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems effectively.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move 10 – 80 pounds continuously. Requires varying degrees of pushing, pulling and lifting. Must be able to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles such as walking, crawling, bending, climbing and stooping. Able to stand for prolonged periods (8-hour shift). Ability to work all hours. Have a good sense of smell and touch.

Work Hours: Typically, an eight-hour work shift, although overtime may be required at the last minute, Monday – Friday workweek. Will be required to work some weekends, including Sundays.
