POSITION SUMMARY
Works with various departments to conduct PM inspections for all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, and gas fired boiler and furnaces. Inspects, audits and trains others to ensure the company's preventative maintenance program is effective and equipment downtime is minimal.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and optimizes PM (preventative maintenance) checklists. Performs PM inspections. Performs visual inspections to detect deficiencies and helps coordinate resolution. Trains others to perform PM inspections and regularly follows up to ensure training effectiveness. Audits PM inspections being performed by others. Works in compliance with OSHA requirements. Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and informs management of potential mechanical problems and inherent dangers. Has a thorough knowledge of mechanical/technical components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes. Performs other duties as required, including maintenance technician responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:
Level 1: Requires two-year certificate from college or technical school; with zero to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in industrial maintenance.
Level 2: Requires two-year certificate from college or technical school; with at least 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in industrial maintenance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
