Job Summary
Works with Supervisor, Team Leader, and more experienced Maintenance Technicians to maintain and repair all production machinery.
Essential Functions

- Diagnoses most mechanical problems of automatic machinery, safely determines the most effective and efficient means of correcting the problems, and makes repairs; keeping machine downtime to a minimum.
- In making repairs, follows standard procedures, maintains recommended machine manual tolerances and alignments, and follows the direction of his trainer or Team Leader.
Tasks
- Performs preventive maintenance program following prescribed procedures and time intervals. Replaces or repairs machine parts or components detected to be defective. Maintains necessary program records.
- Helps to detect and report faulty machine operation, defective equipment, substandard components, or similar machine-related shortcomings to Team Leader.
- Makes out time, production, and maintenance reports as necessary.
- May be called upon to use the lathe, surface grinder, and Bridgeport to repair or manufacture machine parts used in machine repair.
- May use the Arc Welder, cutting and welding torches, and soldering equipment under supervision to repair machine parts.
- Working with the Supervisor, Team Leader, and more experienced maintenance technicians, handles most mechanical and electrical problems identified in a work request.
- With assistance from his/her trainer performs the job of Maintenance Technician in its entirety as assigned.
- Receives direction from Supervisor or Team Leader; independently works with machine parts drawings, manuals, specifications and/or instructions.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times.

- Helps to maintain stock of spare parts used solely in Maintenance program.
- Collaborates with Maintenance persons from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the work at hand.
- Follows all safety practices and procedures in all duties.
- Performs other duties, as required.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. on the average of 4 to 5 times per day.
- Ability to work with non hazardous oils and solvents.
- Visual acuity for detailed work.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, instructions, procedures, etc.
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Good working knowledge of hand tools and usage of them.
- General ability to perform machining tasks using lathe, surface grinder, and Bridgeport.
- Some working knowledge of basic electricity and wiring and the ability to read electrical schematics and use test instruments on circuits up to 480 volts.
- Ability to weld, solder, braze, and flame cut under general instruction and supervision.
- Good organizational skills.
