TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- ELECTRICIAN
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
JOB GOAL: PERFORMS SKILLED DUITES IN MAINTAINING BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT IN THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL DISTRICT. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. SALARY RANGE IS BASE ON EXPERENCE.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
- Will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
- Will work under the supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds and the Maint. Foreman.
- Follow all E.P.A. guidelines for Building and Grounds.
- Be on call and work overtime as needed.
- Be available for training and meetings
- May be required to work in all the areas listed below
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Heating and air conditioning
- Electricity
- Construction Projects
- General maint. and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
- Repair and/or install high and low voltage electrical equipment.
- Repair and/or install high and low voltage electrical systems.
- Repair and/or install control equipment and wiring.
- Repair and/or install high and low voltage electrical devices.
- Troubleshoot high and low voltage electrical systems and equipment.
- Bend conduit
- Repair and/or install lighting fixtures
- Balance electrical loads
- Calculate loads, wire size, service size.
- Operate electrical meters and other troubleshooting equipment.
- Read blueprints and shop drawings
- Repair and maintain energy management systems.
- Repair and/or install fire alarm and bell systems
- Perform snow and ice removal as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift, carry and load equipment and supplies that will weigh as much as 30-60 pounds, 3-10 times per day.
- Must be able to work safely through out all aspects of job duties.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stepladders and step stools.
- Must have dexterous use of both hands so as to be able to operate power tools, hand tools and mechanical hand tools.
- Must also be able to drive Maintenance vehicles with standard shift, and the ability to pull a trailer behind a vehicle.
- Must have previous experience in the safe operation and use of tools such as drills, saws, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers, etc.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (outdoors in hot, wet and cold - below freezing weather).
- This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting and the ability to work on the school buildings and grounds.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
- Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
- Must be able to understand and follow-up on oral and telephone delivered orders and instructions.
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
