The Maintenance Assistant at Carlyle Senior Care of Aiken is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Director in ensuring the proper operation of facility equipment, grounds and buildings.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Assist in ensuring the facility and grounds are in good repair and provide a safe and attractive environment for residents. Inspect them regularly and identify any areas that are in needs of repair.
2. Assist in the carrying out a preventative maintenance program.
3. Notify Maintenance Director when supplies are needed and when equipment of areas in the facility are in needs of repair.
4. Check daily for any requests for repairs. Respond promptly to all requests for repairs or maintenance concerns from residents, family members, and staff.
5. Assist with resident move-ins and move-outs. Prepare resident rooms for new admissions.
6. Assist with the setup and cleanup for special events.
7. Maintain grounds, coordinate lawn services and other outdoor grounds service as needed.
8. Provide support to maintain protection and security systems to comply with federal, state and local requirements. Test the fire protection system as required by code and schedule regular inspections. Test resident security systems on a regularly scheduled basis. Maintain the HVAC system ensuring a comfortable temperature in the facility. Ensure an effective lighting system in the residence. Ensure the plumbing system is in compliance with code and working properly at all times. Test water temperature and adjust as needed for compliance.
9. Assist when ordering maintenance supplies from approved vendors on a regular basis, and maintain up-to-date inventory of supplies.
10. Assist in maintaining and organizing supply and storage areas.
11. Ensure compliance with all codes, OSHA, MSDS, and facility policies and procedures.
12. Ensure that all maintenance items are kept in a safe area to prevent injuries to residents, employees and visitors.
13. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
14. Observe infection control procedures.
15. Follow Residents Rights policies at all times.
16. Consistently present yourself to work with an appropriate, professional appearance.
17. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.
18. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
Physical Job Requirements:
To fulfill job requirements, the employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods of time. When supporting, lifting or transferring residents, proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by the facility must be used.
In a typical day, employee must be able to:
1. Stand/walk up to eight hours a day
2. Sit up to eight hours a day
3. Frequently support up to 70 pounds
4. Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds
5. Frequently kneel, bend, and reach
