The Plant Maintenance and Reliability Manager will be a key contributor in driving process
improvements with enabling and empowering cross functional teammate collaboration with Lean
Manufacturing tools while operating within Holcim building Envelope Mission, Vision and Values.  The position also
serves as the key technical resource for the manufacturing operation focusing on troubleshooting,
identifying opportunity root cause, developing sustainable solutions for mechanical and electrical
equipment issues, teaching the Maintenance and Operations Teammates and further developing their
capabilities in the journey.
This role will lead the Maintenance and Reliability function for the plant and will be a key leader in
supporting personnel safety, 5S, developing and implementing a Total Preventative Maintenance
program, Standards building, condition based safety, equipment design, project management,
department and plant cost control, cost savings initiatives, inventory control, safe equipment
modifications with a multiyear vision of having a world class reliability program and team.  


Duties and responsibilities
Details include but are not limited to:

  • Provide proactive leadership and direction to the plant safety and 5S efforts. Serve as a key resource for safety related issues with the goal of sustained zero actual injuries to teammates
  • Maintain steadfast environmental regulatory compliance
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to the Maintenance Department in all aspects of their work specifically through Gemba walks and observations
  • Provide leadership in the development of Maintenance PM’s and working standards and in training teammates to utilize consistently
  • Lead continued improvement in teammate relations both within department and cross functionally
  • Develop Maintenance Technician training program to build capabilities for new and existing teammates
  • Collaborate with other sister sites to solve problems and broadly share learnings
  • Lead plant to achieve glide path goals around OEE2, first pass yield, fixed and variable cost, teammate capabilities and world class maintenance metrics.
  • Identify Capital needs with respect to production, environmental, safety, building & grounds and be responsible for them from inception to completion. Includes estimating and funds procurements, specifying equipment, working with vendors and outside contractors, supervising safe onsite work, maintaining budget and scheduling with the plant production.
  • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic reading: (Allen Bradley, RSLogix, Devicenet & Ethernet Network)
  • Review equipment to determine upgrades and replacing obsolete controls
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to improve plant systems and ensure disciplined and consistent execution of those systems
  • Drive Lean continuous improvement efforts using Lean manufacturing principles
  • Leads efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, and controls
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, and monitors an Asset Maintenance

 

Plan that includes:

  • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
  • Effective utilization of predictive methods designed to identify and isolate reliability problems
  • Develops solutions to repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations
  • Effectively utilize root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Optimizes Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Effectively manages spare parts inventory
  • Fully integrates and utilizes the CMMS system
     

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in robust reliability system building
  • Process Safety Management Experience
  • Electrical; PLC experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience evaluating existing systems and implementing continuous improvements in a plant
  • Strong collaboration, influence, and change management skills
  • Excellent team and cross team building capabilities
  • Experience in project management and planning with strong written and verbal communication skills


Desired Qualifications

  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Lean Manufacturing training and application experience in manufacturing
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Lean Expert Certification
  • Multi-site continuous improvement leadership experience in one of the process industries (building materials, chemicals, consumer goods, etc.)
  • Experience managing productivity/ cost savings programs and delivering on savings targets
  • Expert with Minitab, SAP, trend analysis and data historian systems

 
Working conditions

  • Work in changing temperature environment (hot or cold)
  • Able to work with PPE requirements


Physical requirements

  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time
