Overview
Lays out, installs, maintains and repairs all types of pipe lines, fittings, and fixtures, as required in plant maintenance and construction.
Responsibilities

• Receives instructions, prints and work orders for job.
• Selects the proper tools and material to complete the assignment.
• Sets up and assembles pipe for welding.
• Installs meters, gages, gaskets, packing, pipe supports, including pipe bracing etc.
• Installs various types of pipe; insulation and covering as required.
• Sets up, fits and tack welds pipe joints and other fitting work as required.
• Heats and straightens material as required.
• Interprets drawings and sketches, plans details of working procedure for tool and material requirements. Selects materials in accordance with suitability for job.
• Lays out work, makes sketches of piping as required, and calculates dimensions and radii of bends; calculate CFM for natural gas line distribution (regulator size and flow on new installations).
• Sets up and operates bending, threading and cut-off equipment and uses various hand tools of the trade to shape and fabricate pipe as required for installation.
• Tests, inspects, dismantles, repairs, replaces or installs any type of high or low
  pressure piping, fitting and fixtures as required for maintenance and construction of pipe lines for air, water, steam, oil, gas, acid, caustic, etc. Work may be performed underground and/or overhead and may be indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Makes and seals various types of joints such as expansion, flange, nipple, coupling, union, lead wiped, soldered, flared caulked, etc. Sets up pipe for welded or special types of joints. Installs gaskets, packing, pipe supports, etc.
• Applies various types of insulation and pipe covering, exercises all safety precautions and makes provisions for handling materials and equipment to and from job site as required in connection with work. Works in shop or plant.
• Uses burning torch as required.
• Lubricates machine as required, wipes and keeps machines, tools and workplace clean.
• Maintains good housekeeping by keeping tools, materials and equipment in proper place.
• Reports defective material and equipment to supervision.
• Observes all safety rules.
• Reports production count, time and identifying data verbally to timekeeper.
• Operates material handling equipment to position or transport various maintenance parts, materials, supplies, tools and equipment to and from maintenance projects and storage.
• Maintain and repair Liquid Natural Gas and Liquid Propane Gas tanks and lines/piping.
• Tune Natural Gas heater regulators (using Manometer)
• Install exhaust on natural gas heaters.
• Trench Box Safety Training Required by third party vendor.

Qualifications:

• Must be able and willing to work all shifts.
• Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Shifts are not guaranteed.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred and job specific testing required.
