What does a successful Mainframe Software Engineer do at Fiserv?
You'll bring your expertise in software development in IBM Mainframe to support important project delivery for key clients. The Front End North Batch and Capture team is a fast-paced and dynamic application development team that builds solutions for the merchant acquiring business. The applications we build are used internally or by our customers to increase revenues and/or savings to Fiserv and the customers.

Mainframe Software Engineer
What does a successful Mainframe Software Engineer do at Fiserv?
You'll bring your expertise in software development in IBM Mainframe to support important project delivery for key clients. The Front End North Batch and Capture team is a fast-paced and dynamic application development team that builds solutions for the merchant acquiring business. The applications we build are used internally or by our customers to increase revenues and/or savings to Fiserv and the customers.
What you will do:
- Create and contribute to application designs
- Provide coding and testing application changes
- Research and fix production issues and support for several applications.
- Participating in a regular on call production support rotation
- Interacting with product owners and project managers for requirements and project deliverables
- Create Visio system and data flow diagrams for projects
- Collaborate with several teams to deliver solutions and application changes.
- Create reporting to assist in project forecasting and slotting for team manager
What you will need to have:
- 5+ years of software development experience in IBM mainframe with COBOL
- Experience with JCL, CICS, and Endevor
- Experience in batch processing, file transmissions, and CA7 Scheduler
- Experience in MS Project, JIRA, or a similar tool
- Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support
What would be great to have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or similar field
- Experience developing applications in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
- Experience with TCP IP and DB2
- Experience in all areas of software development such as designing, coding, testing, and production support
- Experience with advanced Excel features, such as pivot tables
- Experience in the payments or merchant acquiring business
- Experience with Visio for data flow diagrams
