IMS Database Administrator

Infosys BPM is seeking to hire a FTE internal Consultant responsible for IMS DBA support for one of our global clients.   This role is responsible to create, maintain, design, monitor and troubleshoot our client’s databases. They use specific relational database management systems, develop, and implement database recovery mechanisms and procedures. And coordinate security measures to safeguard database integrity. 

Responsibilities:

High Systems Availability:

·       Monitor and review SQL

·       Monitor database space requirements through automation

·       Monitor Health check and alerts in place for database objects availability

·       Manage automation of and for database recovery including DR exercises

Database Security:

·       Automation detecting and alerting on download of sensitive data

·       Create and give authority to Views restricting access to sensitive columns

·       Parse the System logs for unauthorized access to databases that contain sensitive data. 

·       DB2 encryption change from EDITPROC to DS level WLN & WL (3Q)

Database maintenance:

·       DB jobs monitoring, Backup and restore, table, Table space creations, performance and logs monitoring

·       Sub-Systems Consolidation/elimination

·       BMC, DB2 upgrade preparation and validation

·       Application Retirement and storage savings

·       Support Outages and production issues related to the database

Basic Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.

·       4+ years of Data Base Administrator experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of IMS DBA application support.
• In-depth knowledge of  Mainframe database principles, concepts, and architecture
• Familiarity with Mainframe operating systems
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for data manipulation and automation tasks

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

·       Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

·       Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders

Work Model:

This role is a hybrid work model, based in either in the Dallas TX, or Basking Ridge NJ areas  and will be required to be onsite 3 days per week.
