Job Title: Lawn Care Supervisor
Report To: External Contracts Manager
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a LAWN CARE SUPERVISOR to join Youngstown Area Goodwill’s growing lawn services division! This is a supervisory position that requires strong interpersonal and management skills and the ability to multitask. This seasonal position will be responsible for managing and completing a variety of landscaping and LAWN CARE duties to maintain the properties of our clients. This position will primarily cut grass using both zero-turn riding and push mowers, but will also be responsible for edging, pruning, mulching and trimming. This position will also be responsible for driving the crew truck and trailer to and from jobsites.
This position must also:
- Manage a team of employees.
- Work with manager to schedule jobs and employees.
- Mow grass using both riding (zero-turn) and push mowers.
- Trim hedges and trees.
- Be experienced in operating lawn maintenance equipment.
- Properly store and handle all equipment, tools and supplies.
- Rake and remove leaves and debris.
- Complete log sheets, time cards and proper documentation and ensure all paperwork is accurately completed and submitted on time.
- Engage with clients in a professional manner.[i]
- Inspect all equipment on a daily basis and properly report any concerns.
- Take equipment for repairs or scheduled service.
- Follow and enforce safe work practices, safety guidelines and regulations.
- Perform other related responsibilities as needed.
Although this is a seasonal position, it could lead to other year-round opportunities within the organization based on business need and if the candidate is interested and qualified. Prior to the start of the LAWN CARE season, interim employment opportunities may be available immediately.
As a seasonal role, the position does offer certain benefits, including paid-time-off of 40 hours, medical, dental, and vision at 30 days, and holiday after 90 days for full-time seasonal period.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE REQUIRED
This is a hands-on position that requires attention to safety and detail. The LAWN CARE SUPERVISOR will be part of a team, which requires skills in leadership, teamwork and time management. Other requirements include:
- Valid Driver’s License required
- MVR Assessment
- High school diploma required
- Previous relevant experience required
- Previous management experience preferred
- Ability to drive pickup truck and lawn trailer; CDL not required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
HOURS WORKED
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-time/Part-Time
NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED
Monday through Friday as scheduled. Occasional weekend days possible, dependent on department needs.
OVERTIME HOURS
Generally, overtime hours are not scheduled; however, overtime may be required based on the needs of the company.
