Position Overview:
The Mailroom Associate I is responsible for processing documents according to current procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Physical Mail Handling:
- All aspects of opening and sorting mail
- Sort incoming payments and process per current business rules and work instructions
- Assist in detailed sorting operations as needed
- Remove staples, paperclips, post-it notes, unfold documents, copy shipping labels as needed for scanning per current business rules and work instructions
- Collect sorted stacks of documents, apply a batch header and make copies of documents as required for scanning
- Move batches and boxes within work area, as well as in between the work and storage areas
- Collect, refuse, and recycle materials from sorting areas and empty into appropriate receptacles
- All other duties as assigned
- Data Entry:
- Key required fields per current business rules and work instructions
- Perform first-level research as required to correctly identify and route document images per current business rules and work instructions
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or some college preferred
- Previous experience in document preparation/sorting, data entry or general administrative support preferred
Required Skills:
- Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to follow instructions
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent communication skills
- Keying speed >45 WPM (corrected)
- 10-Key speed - >6,000 per hour (corrected)
Physical Requirements:
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching regularly
- Ability to work in a confined area
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds to shoulder height unassisted
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended hours without sitting
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Moderate noise level (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended hours
